Not completely sure where you’re getting the idea that characters with a BAB of 0 can’t take attacks of opportunity. As far as I can tell, it’s not true in Starfinder and it’s definitely not true in Pathfinder.

Clubs have the archaic weapon property. That weapon property states that the weapon deals 5 fewer damage unless the target is wearing no armor or archaic armor. (pg. 180 SFCRB).
Makes those club hits MUCH less deadly!
