Nester reminds me a lot of my Ranger from my first ever campaign, more evil than him but still. I played him as a snarky non-trusting type who didn’t warm up to others easily, but after the party had gotten far along and reached a point where a big choice was up in the air for him to make involving world changing magic at a terrible price, and role-played his choice to stay as is with them having to do largely with them being the first people outside his family to really except him despite his attitude and such.
